作者介紹 Virginia Hamilton (1934-2002) was awarded the Newbery Medal (in 1975, for M.C Higgins, the Great, becoming the first Black writer so honored), three Newbery Honors, the National Book Award, and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, among many other honors. In 1995 she was the recipient of the American Library Association's Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal for the body of her work; that same year she became the first children's writer to be named a MacArthur Fellow (the "Genius" grant). Hamilton is also one of only a handful of Americans to win the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal, known as "The Little Nobel Prize." Julie K. Rubini is the author of several biographies for young readers, including Virginia Hamilton: America's Storyteller, Missing Millie Benson: The Secret Case of the Nancy Drew Ghostwriter and Journalist, and Eye to Eye: Sports Journalist Christine Brennan. She is the founder of Claire's Day, a children's book festival in honor of her late daughter.
